An Update

Well, The whole update every day thing went out the window fast didnt it?!

Well its been a busy few months, but to just cover the most up to date stuff.

  • Last Thursday I was told by my work that my contract isn’t being renewed. I have till roughly the 14th May and then I’m out of here.
  • Somewhere between the 14th may and the 1st June I will be moving house, to a new build estate where the gods of Internet decided that fiber wasn’t needed, and a large estate of young families could code with 3-4mb adsl…
  • Sustained illness and family illness has meant my adventures of Gym fun hasn’t been as regular as I’d have liked

So, As you can guess I’ve spent the last week feeling sorry for myself and generally not being happy about the prospect of being jobless when its needed most, and not being able to support my family. Add to that I come to update my site today to find it hacked!

So after ranting a bit and cleaning the site, I set to getting over my rage and getting on with planning and organising my life.

I now have until Friday the 11th May to work my way through the following checklist:

  • Find a New Job – Anything to give me just about enough money to live
  • Prepare and then Move house – This one is kinda going to happen no matter what!
  • Fix and Re-launch DevGaming – This has been on the cards for a while, but with the strong chance of unemployment I HAVE to get the site up to scratch, work hardcore on the team behind the site and at least give it a chance to earn some dosh.
  • Launch my new Business – I say my business, its a business being launched with 3 other people, and whilst I know they all have hectic lives at the moment, with the chance of unemployment I need to take this opportunity to push this. If I can use the next 4 weeks to get a small customer base there’s the chance I wont need to go to work and can use this opportunity to finally get “self employed”

So, there we have it. 4 items in my checklist. Simple enough… I think

Repeat fail

I really do repeatedly fail at making my long and readable daily post! But then I’m posting something, but so I’m keeping my promise to myself and being regular.

Work is progressing well on the new devgaming front page, hopefully I can chat to our editor and get a ton of content up this weekend. Then ready to launch soon!

Really pc?

So mrs Arthran convinced me to join her in playing star wars the old republic today. Much fun has been had…

But my loathing of my pc is rising massively. I have had 3 restarts whilst playing and a further 4 graphics crashes leaving me with sound but no display.
I’ve turned all graphics options to low, a slight help but no fix.

A problem with the game you may think? Nope, a known dodgy graphics card! My card is a hand down from the mrs, and whilst it’s a reasonable spec and does good fps in most games, it has some known stability issues.

I’ve been told off more than once today for screaming at my machine.

All I can say is, I cant wait to raise the money to get my new pc!

The obligatory Intro post

Well, If I’m going to get my personal website sorted and start blogging, I guess I need an into post.

I am Arthran, aka Michael. I’m a 26 year old IT tech from England, and I’m a bit of a Geek. I work full time in IT support, I run my own web hosting company and I run my own Gaming website (DevGaming).

I’m rather overweight (I’m 6’1 and weigh in at 19stone 9lb) and am not at all happy about this, So I’ll be using this blog to keep track of my progress on becoming fit!

I’m working on becoming financially independent and leaving my job, and again I’ll be using this blog to keep up to date on this!

I’m going to be using this blog to keep track of my thoughts, goals and plans. Generally a publicly accessible mix of what I’ve done, and a to-do list. I’m going to be trying to post something daily, usually from my phone, and usually not much. But if I can get into a routine, then all the better!

I don’t expect many people to read this, It’s mostly for my own sanity, and a way to force myself to keep a decent routine and structure.

So, More to come, but for now, that’s me!
